U.S. denies Trump’s immigration policy will affect Nigeria’s 2-year visa

Image
The U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington, on Friday said America would not discriminate against any Nigerian on the basis of religion or on the new visa regime. President Trump recently signed an executive order that banned citizens from seven countries from travelling into the U.S. for 90 days. The countries are Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The restrictions were part of wide-ranging immigration controls that also suspended refugee arrivals. At a press conference in Abuja on President Donald Trump’s executive order and its effects on Nigeria, the ambassador dispelled the rumour of reducing U.S. visa policy for Nigeria to one year. Mr. Symington said the two-year visa for Nigeria was still valid. “The new order now is for the U.S. government to cross-check as many that are coming into the U.S. before issuing visas. “We will not discriminate on the basis of religion in issuing visas to Nigerians. The two-year visa is still valid contrary to reports we

Check out the bizzare way most adults relax in Japan

Image
A new craze is taking Japan by storm and sees adults wrapped up like babies and swayed from side-to-side. The bizarre-looking therapy called Otonamaki is becoming popular especially with new mums. At a recent session in Tokyo organised by a non-profit organisation dedicated to post-natal women, five tried out the new trend. Each took turns to tie each other in a large cloth from head to toe and in a cross-legged position. They also swayed lightly from side-to-side after being laid gently on their backs in the hope of helping loosening the muscles and bones. Some were given the option to use a colored cloth to help simulate different environments as they lay completely covered in the white cloths. After emerging one woman said: "It felt warm and there was this feeling with my body. I have never experienced this before so its quite hard to describe properly."

First of a kind operation; Woman survives 6 days without lungs after 13hr

Image
A Canadian woman has survived six days with no lungs thanks to pioneering surgery and state-of-the-art technology that successfully oxygenated and circulated her blood after both her lungs were removed simultaneously. Doctors at Toronto General Hospital made the life-saving call with just hours to spare as Melissa Benoit, who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis, had contracted a serious, antibiotic-resistant lung infection back in April 2016. At the time, no donor had been found and there was no precedent for such a procedure but the team chose to make the high risk decision in the hope that a suitable donor could be found in time. They did not anticipate a wait of six days. As part of her recovery, Melissa has had to learn how to lift her head, raise her torso and stand again after almost six months in bed following the operation. She is also preparing for another transplant in the near future as her kidneys were damaged throughout the process. Thankfully Melissa’s mother has agreed to
