A goldfish with an incurable bladder disease has been fitted with a 'wheelchair' so it can swim again. The inventor of the device, Derek, from San Antonio, Texas, fitted the fish with a makeshift wheelchair after a customer approached him at the aquarium he works at to ask about the disease. The fish suffers from swim bladder disease, which prevents it from controlling its buoyancy in the water. The swim bladder is an organ that helps fish stay stable in the water, but when it's deformed or infected, it can cause a fish to swim upside down or float to the top of the tank. The Justice Ministry has filed a request with the nation’s supreme court for the classification, potentially endangering the 175,000 members in the country. They were granted renewal in 1999, according to the group’s international website. Coming after a diamond fueled decade-long civil war that ended in 2002 in which 50,000 people were killed, a Sierra Leonean Pastor who found what could be said to be one of the world’s largest uncut diamonds, weighing 706 carats, and worth over $50M, has donated the diamond, which could be the 10th largest ever found to the Sierra Leonean Government. The diamond which was found in Sierra Leone’s eastern Kono region by Emmanuel Momoh, was handed over to President Ernest Koroma by the Pastor who is also a local chief. The Sierra Leonean Government also disclosed that it will auction the diamond and specially thanked the Pastor for not smuggling it out. - - - “He (Koroma) underscored the importance of selling such a diamond here as it will clearly give the owners what is due them and benefit the country as a whole,” the statement said.

Justice Muslim Hassan of the Federal High Court in Lagos has withdrawn himself from further presiding over the alleged N4.9bn fraud charge pressed against a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The judge ordered the return of the case file to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, for re-assignment to another judge. Up to 60% of workers of the distressed airline Aero may have been laid off following dwindling operations by the airline which is the oldest in the country. Findings show workers, more than 1000, were issued letters of redundance this week in moves to reduce operational costs. Andrew Yakubu, a former Group Managing Director of the state oil firm, NNPC, was on Thursday arraigned on a six-count charge of fraud at the Federal High Court, Abuja. The former oil chief was charged by the anti-graft EFCC after he admitted owning over $9.8 million cash found in a house that also belongs to him in Kaduna State. On Thursday, he pleaded not guilty to the charge filed by the EFCC. Justice Ahmed Mohammed then ordered he be remanded in Kuje prison pending the determination of his bail application on March 21.

Aliko Dangote is now a coal miner as Tanzania has offered his Dangote Cement Company in the southeastern town of Mtwara, land to mine coal for its operations. Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals at the weekend handed a 10-square-kilometre plot of land to the $500 million cement factory set up in 2015 by Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man. The factory has an annual capacity of 3 million tonnes. Dangote, Africa’s biggest cement producer, is seeking to double Tanzania’s annual output of cement to 6 million tonnes.
